Log Home Bedrooms

Furniture placement can be tricky with a sloped ceiling, even with a dormer on one side. Placing the bed in the middle of the room makes the space look larger and allows plenty of room to move around. Windows on three sides keep the room airy and bright.

This master bedroom has everything one could dream of: a cozy sitting area in front of the fire, a table and chairs for working or having a cup of tea, a spectacular twig work stair railing, and a view from multiple windows. The blue of the bedding adds a pop of color to the subtle palette of the rest of the room.

A barn door on a track is a great space saver in this rustic bedroom. The uplights above the bed illuminate the ceiling in what could have been a very dark room.

A deep, rich red faux finished wall sets off the intricate pine design of the mirror over the dresser. To continue the theme, the homeowners have placed pine boughs on the dresser top and a pinecone-filled tree in the corner.

One way to bring the outdoors inside is through artwork, in this case magnificent stained glass. During the day the colored glass shines with sunlight but at night keeps the room warm and cozy. Consider using stained glass in other areas of your home to add color and visual interest.

Not all of the walls in your log home have to be wood. The stonework in this master bedroom is unique and stunning. It also serves as a safe backdrop for the wood-burning stove in the corner. The large room is fully able to accommodate the bed, leather sofa, and ornate armoire.

Neutral colors, especially a calming sage green, create a serene environment in a bedroom. Greens and browns work perfectly in a log home; they are colors from nature that enhance the natural wood tones. Adding a wide but shallow window above the bed brings in the daylight but doesn’t occupy valuable wall space.
