Norse Log Homes started in 1984 in beautiful British Columbia, Canada and is now run by second generation log home builders. They travel all over the world setting up log packages as well as offering local lock ups or finished builds. Log packages are premanufactured on Vancouver Island, BC and then numbered, disassembled and shipped to their final destination. Set up on site takes 1-3 days depending on the complexity of the design. Logs are typically West Coast growth Douglas Fir or Western Red Cedar logs with an average of 12-14″ log. Logs are hand peeled using the traditional draw knife method, then scribe fitted using Scandinavian notches and lateral groove construction. Log ends are often chamfered and curied for longevity. Norse Log Homes has successfully participated in high seismic requirement locations as well as energy efficiency testing with excellent blower door test results.
